Licensed in both states
Washington and Idaho do not have electrician license reciprocity in either direction. A Washington-licensed electrician cannot simply cross the line and work legally in Idaho, and the reverse is equally true. That is why a lot of Spokane-area contractors stop at the state line.
We carry both licenses, so a project in Post Falls or Coeur d’Alene is the same conversation as a project in Spokane Valley.

How permits differ across the line
Washington side
Electrical permits and electrical inspections come from Washington State Labor & Industries everywhere in the Spokane area except inside the City of Spokane, which runs its own electrical program. The city or county handles the building permit separately.
Idaho side
Every Idaho electrical permit starts at the state DOPL portal (the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses, under IDAPA 24.39.10), and the portal routes the job to whichever authority covers that address. It's the same portal for Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls and Rathdrum, so there's nothing for you to figure out up front. We pull the electrical permit and schedule the inspection; the city or county handles the building permit. Aaron is licensed on both sides of the state line and runs jobs under both systems regularly.
Both states are currently on the 2023 NEC, each with its own state amendments, so the code edition is the same on either side of the line right now, even though the permitting agencies are not.
